Words of Wine 2023 Journalism Award: entry requirements

Announcement and regulations
The mission of the Consorzio Tutela Vini d’Abruzzo is to protect, promote and act in the best
interests of all region’s controlled designations of origin wines. Its activities also include promotion
of quality local wines. As part of these promotion strategies, the Consorzio decided to focus on
raising awareness in worldwide specialized and generalist media by launching the “Words of Wine
– Parole di vino” international journalism award. Now in its fifth edition, the award aims to
encourage promotion and endorsement of the image of Abruzzo wine through media
communication actions. The competition is open to Italian and international journalists.

The Award
The Award is international in outreach and is dedicated to the following journalism professionals:
– Press (newspapers and periodicals)
– TV and radio
– Web (online dailies and periodicals, blogs)

Articles circulated in any of the EU member states are eligible and applications for the competition
must reach the panel by 30 May 2023, in paper or digital format, at the following addresses:

The Panel
The panel comprises a technical committee which will be given the opportunity to nominate
candidates for the award.

Award Method
The panel will choose the most deserving works among articles published in generalist and
specialized newspapers and periodicals; television and radio broadcasts; articles published on the
web, circulated by 29 May 2023. The themes addressed will be top-class wines and winegrowing
territories of Abruzzo; outstanding figures in the Abruzzo wine scenario; the region’s natural,
historical, and cultural heritage.
The award ceremony will take place on 7 June 2023 in Città Sant’Angelo, with the opportunity to
enjoy a wine tour of Abruzzo’s major cellars from 5 to 8 June, following some of the most
characteristic routes.
The travel and board expenses of all the winners will be met by the organizers.
